วัดสะแล่ง  WatSalaeng

ประวัติความเป็นมา  วัดสะแล่ง (History   WatSalaeng)

อยู่ตำบลห้วยอ้อ อำเภอลอง  จังหวัดแพร่ เป็นวัดเก่าแก่สมัยเดียวกับ วัดพระธาตุศรีดอนคำเป็นพระธาตุที่บรรจุพระธาตุพระอุระพระพุทธเจ้าพระอุโบสถเป็นทรงล้านนาประยุกต์ 

วัดนี้สร้างในสมัยพระนางจามเทวีเป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ  มีโบราณวัตถุเป็นพระพุทธรูปสมัยต่าง ๆ ตั้งแต่สมัยทวาราวดีจนถึงอยุธยาตอนปลาย

มีตำนานเล่าสืบกันมาว่า  เมื่อพระพุทธเจ้าเสด็จมาที่ดอยสะแล่งแก้วดอนมูลหรือดอยสะแล่งหลวงเจ้าเมืองและชาวบ้านต่างพากันไปถวายบิณฑบาตแก่พระพุทธเจ้า

และพระสงฆ์สาวก  เมื่อพระพุทธเจ้าเสวยพระกระยาหารแล้ว ชายาเจ้าเมืองได้ถวายดอกสะแล่งเป็นพุทธบูชา พระพุทธเจ้าทรงรับและอนุโมทนา แล้วทรงมีพุทธฎีกาพยากรณ์ว่า  ในอนาคตกาล สถานที่แห่งนี้จะเป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระธาตุของพระองค์  และสถานที่แห่งนี้จะมีความเจริญรุ่งเรืองสืบต่อไป  จากการที่ชายาเจ้าเมืองถวายดอกสะแล่งเป็นพุทธบูชา

และดอยแห่งนี้มีต้นสะแล่งอยู่ วัดนี้จึงมีชื่อว่า วัดสะแล่ง
